Diagnostic Ultrasound

Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is used to provide an accurate, real-time assessment of musculoskeletal conditions.
This non-invasive imaging tool allows us to visualise soft tissues, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints - helping to guide diagnosis and treatment planning with precision.
Combining ultrasound with a clinical examination allows physiotherapists to:
-
Confirm diagnoses with more certainty.
-
Examine the extent of injuries.
-
Monitor progress and healing over time
-
Evaluate soft tissues dynamically, comparing affected areas with the unaffected side.
-
Design more targeted treatment plans.
-
Guide treatment decisions such as injection referrals or loading protocols
By integrating diagnostic ultrasound into your physiotherapy assessment or treatment we can ensure a more informed, efficient, and personalised rehabilitation plan - getting you on the right path, faster. It is not offered as a standalone imaging service, and no formal diagnostic reports are provided.
POCUS is particularly useful for evaluating:
-
Rotator cuff injuries - tears, tendinopathy
-
Achilles tendinopathy or partial tears
-
Tennis/golfer’s elbow (lateral/medial epicondylitis)
-
Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
-
Bursitis - hip, shoulder
-
Ligament injuries - tears or sprains
-
Muscle tears, strains, and hematomas
-
Tendon thickening, inflammation, or degeneration
